Let me make 10 or so bars if I want so that I can actually use the skills I'm given. Please, please, please just give me more bars. Why have you given me 30 odd skills when I can only use 7 at a time? It's is so freaking stupid. Maybe it's that I'm used to games like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV but I genuinely don't understand why I have only 1 bar with 7 buttons. If I'm honest, the skills system is my biggest gripe. It would just make the systems more enjoyable as my character will be able to start being unique earlier on. Further to this I'd like to see a variety of runes as rewards for quests so that I can quite quickly access customisation systems. It's an extremely pointless feature that needs to be removed.
#Elyon review upgrade#
In regards to the systems I actually think it's in a pretty healthy state although the fact that runes have a chance to fail an upgrade is beyond stupid. Please take a page out of World or Warcraft's book on this one. I feel as though quests where you interact with objects and such interspersed with fetch and kill quests as well as story quests could be so much more interesting. Go here, speak to this person, etc." which does get the job done but it could be 10 times better. A lot of the time, it was "go here, speak to this person. Additionally, on the point of the story, I'd much rather see a more gameplay orientated main story quest chain. I shouldn't have to grind side quests with no value to get to a level where I can continue the story. In terms of the leveling I'd much rather see a slower leveling process with more story. I'm not a game designer/developer so I'm not going to attempt to offer suggestions but I will say that 100% it could be more immersive.

Currently it kind of feels like it's breaking the fourth wall and while this gets the job done, I think it could be 10 times better. I think the runes system needs a far clearer explanation and while all of the explanations are fine, I think they can be reworked so that they integrate more fluidly into the experience. I really really liked how customisable the systems were going to be although I think there are defiantly some elements that need changing for the western release. I think more work needs to go into investing people in the story as it seems quite run of the mill and not terribly unique. Graphically the game is great and I was blown away by the character customisation. It felt fast, fluid and fun albeit far too limited. The combat system is one of the best I've seen in an MMO.

I just feel it could have been even better if it had been rewritten from scratch in each localised language although I recognise that would be quite a bit more work. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. I don't mean to be rude but it was quite obvious that it was translated from another language and not rewritten in English. I think it would be massively helped if the face animations of the character lined up with that of the voiceovers. Some of the voice acting was quite sub-par and some of it was pretty good it depended on the NPC. I would say that overall the voice acting was mediocre. I assume that all of the text conversations between the player and NPC's will be voiced so I won't talk about that. How would I describe my first impression of Elyon? It was a little confusing at first since the opening felt a little rushed but once I got the hang of everything, the mechanics of the combat and movement where great! There were definitely issues with the localisation though.
